🔎 Signs of a Sensitive Nervous System 🔎
1. Overwhelm by Sensory Stimuli: Individuals with an extra sensitive nervous system may easily become overwhelmed by sensory inputs such as bright lights, loud noises, strong smells, or textures.
2. Heightened Emotional Responses: Emotional reactions tend to be more intense and pronounced in those with a sensitive nervous system. They may feel deeply affected by both positive and negative emotions, and may have a strong empathetic response to others' feelings.
3. Sensitivity to Physical Discomfort: Individuals with a sensitive nervous system may be more aware of physical discomforts like temperature changes, clothing textures, or physical pain. These sensations can have a greater impact on their overall well-being.
4. Difficulty Differentiating Other's Emotions from Self: People with heightened sensitivity are often hyperaware of how others feel. They may pick up on subtle cues and feel what others are feel very deeply, which can be overwhelming, confusing, & exhausting.
5. Emotional Exhaustion and Burnout: Due to the constant processing of external stimuli and emotional experiences, individuals with an extra sensitive nervous system may be more prone to emotional exhaustion and burnout. They may need more downtime and self-care to replenish their energy.
6. Pathological Demand Avoidance — When you feel extremely out of control of your mind & body, so you desperately cling to any small feeling of control you can get your hands on. Triggered by everyday demands or when you're told what to do.
7. Cocooning internally for a while with a constant desire to escape the pressure of the world & the constant restless feeling in your mind & body. You know you need support, but have no idea where to start.
8. Constantly feeling triggered...whether it's sensory triggers...demand triggers..anything could be a trigger. Living in a hyperalert state that leaves no room to relax ...truly relax.
9. Feeling confused & unclear on what to do, how to help, & how to get unstuck. Try to help with little success, which hurts your self esteem even more.
